Unexpected Adventure
I started my career with an interest in psychology and a fascination for the workings of the human mind. Little did I know, my path would take me on a rewarding journey into the world of education technology. When I was given the opportunity to teach computer and digital multimedia, I knew I had to take it, even though I was uncertain of my skillset.
Point of Epiphany
I approached the challenge with determination and set out to create entire courses from scratch. As I delved deeper into the process, I realized that designing courses was like conducting an orchestra. Just as a conductor must choose the right instruments to create a beautiful harmony, course creation requires a blend of visuals and narratives to create a rich and compelling design. I found that I had a knack for it and was hooked. I love to design!
Rise to Leadership
I didn't stop there. I continued to embrace new opportunities and took on leadership roles such as Workforce Advisor, DECA Advisor, and Bookstore Manager. I then decided to further my education and obtained my MBA and a master's degree in Learning Experience Design and Educational Technology. This newfound knowledge allowed me to apply the best instructional practices to all of my deliverables.
Community Connection
I eagerly engaged with the learning and development community on LinkedIn, and Reddit and collaborated with others on design challenges. I used the new information I obtained to upskill and gained confidence using in-demand tools like Articulate Storyline 360, Synthesia, and Adobe Photoshop. I also created this portfolio website to showcase my instructional design skills and talents.
Entrepreneurial Enterprise
I decided to take my journey as an educator and started my own side business creating and customizing learning experiences for clients. Through this experience, I quickly learned the power of developing prototypes, collecting feedback, and iterating based on user feedback to ensure customer and learner satisfaction. I began to experiment with creating microlearning how-to videos and eLearning experiences to help clients complete tasks and retain information at their own pace.
Limitless Horizons
Although I have other adventures ahead, my path along the way has led me exactly to where I'm meant to be. I'm excited to start a new venture where I can continue to develop and grow.
How you play is who you become. As a child, playacting with my friends, found me guiding and inspiring them through teaching. On my own, I created design through collages and painting. Empathy and aesthetics have always accompanied my endless love of learning.
I am an open-water swimmer and nature-loving enthusiast. My dream is to swim in every octopus ocean in the world. I am inspired by the sights and sounds of the sea and the environment that surrounds me.
Technology is my paintbrush. My creative tools include Articulate 360, Storyline, Adobe Suite, Midjourney PowerPoint, Synthesia, Dall-E, ChatGPT, and Claude. Every day, I find some new technique to add to my ever-growing toolbox of knowledge. I discover joy in design. It's where I find my flow.
