Rise multiple choice hands learners the answer and three distractors to pick from. Real recall means producing the term, not recognizing it. Building a fill-in-the-blank that accepts variations and gives feedback in Storyline means text-entry variables and a wall of conditions.

The Fill in the Blank generator lets you write the passage, set accepted answers, and add feedback visually, then export a single HTML file and embed in Articulate Rise, Storyline, Captivate, Canvas, Moodle, or any LMS that accepts HTML.

Use it for definitions, formulas, process steps, and any content that demands genuine recall, so learners leave able to produce the answer, not just recognize it.

How To Use the Generators

Each tool in the eLearningDesign.org ecosystem follows a streamlined, three-step workflow designed to keep you focused on instructional strategy while we handle the technical execution.

  1. Input Your Content: Open the Content tab to add your specific learning prompts, interactive options, and coaching feedback. This is where you build the logic and instructional heart of your activity.

  2. Customize Your Design: Switch to the Design tab to align the tool with your course aesthetic. You can manually adjust colors, typography, and layout structures to ensure a seamless visual fit.

  3. Generate and Embed: Go to the Generate tab to finalize your tool. Click "Copy Embed Code" for your authoring tool's HTML block, or "Download as HTML" for local hosting and offline use.

Common Use Cases

  • Definitions and Terms: Have learners produce the correct term from memory instead of recognizing it in a list, locking in genuine recall.

  • Process Steps: Ask learners to complete a procedure by filling in the missing step, reinforcing the sequence they will follow on the job.

  • Formulas and Codes: Test exact recall of formulas, part numbers, or codes where recognition is not enough and precision is the whole point.
