Interactive Video

Stop a video at key moments and make learners answer to continue.

Best for: demonstrations, soft skills, compliance.

Add Questions Inside Any Video Without Code

Video is the easiest thing to put in a course and the easiest thing to ignore. It plays, the learner checks email, the completion records anyway.

Interactive Video puts stop points inside the playback. You set the timestamps, write the questions, and export a single HTML file you embed in Articulate Rise, Storyline, Captivate, Canvas, Moodle, or any LMS that accepts HTML.

Use it for software demonstrations, soft skills footage, and compliance video, where you need proof that someone watched rather than proof that the file finished loading.

WHY IT WORKS

Interactive Video pauses at set points and asks a question before the video continues.

Across 56 studies, breaking instruction into segments improved retention and transfer and reduced cognitive load. Rey et al. (2019).

How To Use the Generators

Each tool in the eLearningDesign.org ecosystem follows a streamlined, three-step workflow designed to keep you focused on instructional strategy while we handle the technical execution.

  1. Input Your Content: Open the Content tab to add your specific learning prompts, interactive options, and coaching feedback. This is where you build the logic and instructional heart of your activity.

  2. Customize Your Design: Switch to the Design tab to align the tool with your course aesthetic. You can manually adjust colors, typography, and layout structures to ensure a seamless visual fit.

  3. Generate and Embed: Go to the Generate tab to finalize your tool. Click "Copy Embed Code" for your authoring tool's HTML block, or "Download as HTML" for local hosting and offline use.

Common Use Cases

  • Software Demonstrations: Pause a walkthrough and ask what the next click should be.

  • Soft Skills Footage: Stop a difficult conversation mid-scene and ask how to respond.

  • Compliance Video: Require an answer at each checkpoint instead of tracking playtime.
