Label the Image

Have learners drag labels onto the right parts of an image.

Best for: anatomy, equipment, parts, diagrams.

Build Drag-and-Drop Image Labeling Activities

A labeled diagram is a reference, not a test. Learners look at it, feel informed, and could not reproduce a single label an hour later.

Label the Image strips the labels off and makes learners place them. You mark the targets and the terms, then export a single HTML file you embed in Articulate Rise, Storyline, Captivate, Canvas, Moodle, or any LMS that accepts HTML.

Use it for anatomy, equipment components, and technical diagrams, where naming the part correctly is part of doing the job safely.

WHY IT WORKS

Label the Image has learners drag each term onto the part it names.

Placing text next to the part of a visual it describes improves learning, with larger effects for complex material. Schroeder and Cenkci (2018).

How To Use the Generators

Each tool in the eLearningDesign.org ecosystem follows a streamlined, three-step workflow designed to keep you focused on instructional strategy while we handle the technical execution.

  1. Input Your Content: Open the Content tab to add your specific learning prompts, interactive options, and coaching feedback. This is where you build the logic and instructional heart of your activity.

  2. Customize Your Design: Switch to the Design tab to align the tool with your course aesthetic. You can manually adjust colors, typography, and layout structures to ensure a seamless visual fit.

  3. Generate and Embed: Go to the Generate tab to finalize your tool. Click "Copy Embed Code" for your authoring tool's HTML block, or "Download as HTML" for local hosting and offline use.

Common Use Cases

  • Anatomy and Healthcare: Test whether learners can name structures without prompts.

  • Equipment Components: Confirm technicians know each part by its correct name.

  • Technical Diagrams: Check understanding of a schematic rather than exposure to it.

Technical Specifications
